You are warmly invited to join us to w?nanga with Ruta Lauleva, traditional birth attendant and Dr Elizabeth Kerekere, Takat?pui scholar ? supporting diverse wh?nau in their birthing journeys.



We will share stories and experiences of supporting diverse wh?nau to experience joy and dignity in their pregnancy and birthing journeys. We will hear from visiting traditional birth attendant Ruta Lauleva (bio below) and Takat?pui scholar Dr Elizabeth Kerekere. Come for the sharing of stories and growing connections. Light lunch provided.



Bio:

Ruta Lauleva is a traditional birth attendant who deeply believes in the innate wisdom of the birthing process & the power of pregnancy/birth/postpartum to heal our relationships to ourselves / the land, especially for Pasefika families living in diaspora. Her work is focused on supporting Pasefika families to navigate their pregnancy journeys with joy and dignity and she is particularly interested in the potential for holistic & traditional birth practices to positively affect Pacific Islander rates of chronic disease, mental illness & overall well-being.
