The LARC Train the Trainer course is continuing to be offered for free to all eligible health practitioners in 2026.

We have workshops booked in 2026 as follows:
- Saturday 30 May - Auckland
- Saturday 6 June - Christchurch
- Thursday 30 July - Auckland (this is being run as a CME workshop for the RNZCGP conference - registrations through them)
- Sunday 29 November - Wellington
- Date still TBC - Dunedin
This is a full day workshop designed to equip clinicians with the skills and confidence to effectively train others in the provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), including contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices. Participants will develop their teaching and assessment skills to support competency-based LARC training in clinical settings.
The workshop will cover:
- Teaching methods for clinical skills training
- Assessment frameworks for ensuring competency and safety
- Best practices in complex LARC insertion and removal techniques
In order to be signed off as a LARC trainer, after attending the workshop, attendees need to complete a final assignment, including training a health practitioner to competence in a LARC procedure and completing a reflection of the course.
