Despite the establishment of the MCA role in many Te Whatu Ora facilities across the motu, no research to date has evaluated the perspectives of the Maternity Care Assistant (MCA) student employment model in Aotearoa New Zealand, and how this can influence the transition to midwifery practice.
To address this knowledge gap, our study is seeking:
- Final year student midwives who may or may not be currently employed as MCAs.
- Early career midwives (within three years of registration) who may or may not have been employed as MCAs during their undergraduate degree
- Experienced midwives (more than three years registered) who have worked with students and/or new graduate midwives who were employed as MCAs in the last three years.
Participation involves completing an online survey (takes approximately 10 minutes). Your responses will be anonymous, and your input will contribute to valuable research that may support future midwives in their professional development.
