T?n? koutou,
My name is Ashleigh Zimmerman (K?i Tahu), and I am a photographic artist based in Te Tai Tokerau. I am writing to warmly invite you and members of your organisation to the opening and artist talk for my upcoming exhibition, Whare Ngaro, at Depot Artspace.
This work offers a unique and critical exploration of the emotional, cultural, and spiritual landscape of infertility from a wahine M?ori perspective, informed by my K?i Tahu whakapapa. The exhibition directly engages with the concept of the 'whare ngaro' (a space of disappearance and unseen transformation).
We believe the themes around cultural resonance, grief, and hope in this project hold significant relevance for healthcare professionals working within the fertility sector and wider wh?nau support services.
Key Event Details:
Please find the formal invitation attached for a detailed explanation of the exhibition's kaupapa, including the cultural research (whakapapa, tinana sovereignty) that underpins the work.
We would be honoured to share this kaupapa with you and open a space for further k?rero across creative, cultural, and clinical spheres.
If you would like any additional information about the exhibition, please visit the exhibition webpage here or contact the Gallery through info@depot.org.nz
