We presently have 5 Board members (not including myself) and are looking to have another 1 or 2 join us.
At present, we have 4 tangata tiriti and 1 tangata whenua members make up the Board. Our current Board members have backgrounds in health justice and equity; kaupapa M?ori maternal mental health programming, midwifery and research, NGO management and finance.
Our Board meets bi-monthly, via zoom, and sporadically in-person, as funds and needs allow. There's sometimes email comms in between hui, which usually don't need a huge amount of attention or feedback. Hui usually last 2 hours.
Our hui are focused but very friendly with a wh?nau feel! We're very much a values-based and relationships-based organisation.
Our kaupapa is based on forming relationships in order to impact change as opposed to a "guns blazing" approach, if that makes sense.
We're a reasonably new organisation, being "born" around 5 years ago.
We're a small but mighty organisation and during the last 5 years we feel we've positioned ourselves solidly amongst the maternal/wh?nau wellbeing space.
Our Vision is: An Aotearoa where all birthing parents and wh?nau have the opportunity to experience respectful, nurtured, trauma-free birth; and have access to effective support and treatment when physical and/or psychological trauma occurs.
Our guiding pou include: Te Tiriti o Waitangi; Integrity; Collaboration; Sustainability; wh?nau-centered and evidenced-based.
We are open to all EOIs as we appreciate that different backgrounds and perspectives can bring different strengths to the kaupapa. In saying that, a skillset in strategic growth and sustainability would be valuable I think and we are particularly keen to receive EOIs from tangata whenua.
